February 20 - March 27, 2009

In gallery A, gallery artist Lucy Slivinski transforms the gallery into a fantastic lighted landscape of her marvelous recycled material sculptural works in INSPIRED TERRAIN. Slivinski, a well-known Chicago sculptor, has created pieces for public commissions in half a dozen states, and has work in more than 45 corporate and private collections. www.lucyslivinski.com

Guest Artist Carl Krull, from Copenhagen, Denmark will show large floor drawings, as well as some smaller works that feature video of the process beside the actual paintings, in his exhibition, DRAWN. Krull, who is a son of two artists, is very involved in the process of art making, and to that end, videotapes much of the making of his art. Mr. Krull and his work appear with the support of The Danish Arts Agency. www.carlkrull.dk

In Project Room 1, gallery artist Jennifer Mannebach creates enigma with PALIMPSEST, sculptural pieces that find their strength via light and shadows. These architectural pieces throw shadows that belie their humble beginnings as masking tape and graphite to gain almost monumental stature once lit. Mannebach has shown widely in the US and received numerous awards. www.jmannebach.com

Downstairs, Gallery B will house PAPER/INK/PRESS, a celebration of printmaking by gallery artists John Himmelfarb (Chicago) www.johnhimmelfarb.com, Nancy Genn (San Francisco) www.nancygenn.com, Carrie Iverson (Chicago) www.carrieiverson.net, Adi Holzer (Denmark) www.adiholzer.com, Alexandra Loewe (France) www.alexandraloewe.com, and guest artist Shawn Stucky (Chicago) www.shawnstucky.com. The exhibit will explore the variety of techniques and possibilities that printmaking offers.

In Project Room 2, Stephanie Dean brings us MODERN GROCERIES. At first glance, Dean’s images are photographic facsimiles of Dutch still life paintings, but when the viewer looks closer, the truth is revealed; labels, plastic, flies, and assorted other signs of current grocery practice. Dean makes several points with this work, one being that is that food is meaningful to the world on a variety of levels. www.stephaniedean.com
