On December 5, 2003, FLATFILEphotography will open DARKROOM ONLY, a group show of the work of fourteen of the gallery’s most classical black and white photographers.
The artists, who hail from Chicago, across the US, and Europe, share a purist attitude regarding photography. All the work in this classically elegant photography show has been painstakingly printed in the darkroom, via either gelatin silver or platinum printing, with or without additional toning.
The show will run through the end of December. FLATFILEphotography is open Tuesday – Saturday from 10:30 to 6, but it would be a good idea to call the gallery for hours during the holidays, as they may vary.
The artists whose work will be featured in the exhibit, as well as their domiciles follow:
Lucien Clergue - France
Barbara Crane – Chicago
Mark DeBernardi – Chicago
Joe Gallo – Chicago
Ann Herbert – Chicago
Ann Ginsburgh Hofkin – Minnesota
Aaron Kleidon – Illinois
Joshua Meier – Montana
Zoran Milovanovic - Yugoslavia
Beth Moon – California
Lydia Panas – Pennsylvania
Peter Panayiotou – Chicago
Bob Tanner – Chicago
Ryan Zoghlin – Chicago
In addition to the exhibition, FLATFILEphotography’s project room, normally used for video installations, will house the second annual “AFFORDABLE ART AS GIFTS SALE” in which the gallery’s artists sell their older photographs, drawings and other art at rock-bottom prices to have money to make new work. Last year the event was a huge success for the artists and gallery, and it is hoped that even more people will take advantage of the great deals on art this year. |
